Senor Birria
If you're cruising down Lakewood Blvd in Downey and suddenly get hit with a craving for bold, no-frills birria, Senor Birria is where your GPS should take you. Tucked at 9952 Lakewood Blvd, this lowkey gem serves up rich, savory bites that know how to satisfy without trying too hard. The place has a casual, divey charm—nothing fancy, just good food, good vibes, and the kind of moderate buzz that makes it feel alive without being overwhelming.
Now let’s talk food. Tacos Dorados are crispy, golden, and filled with tender birria that’s been slow-cooked to perfection. Dunk them in their flavorful Consome—basically a rich birria broth—and you’ve got yourself a mini flavor explosion. Another crowd favorite? The Quesataco. Think of it as the cheesy cousin of your regular taco: gooey, crispy, and grilled to the right level of indulgence. Then there are the Mulitas—kind of like a taco sandwich, layered with meat and cheese, pressed between two tortillas. And if you’re not here to play around, go big with the Plato De Birria, a full-on plate of their signature stew served up hot and hearty.
What makes Senor Birria stand out isn’t just the food—it’s the whole laid-back experience. It’s the type of spot that’s perfect for a group hangout, where you can dig into tacos, share laughs, and probably get messy in the best way. You don’t need a dress code, a reservation, or even a plan. Just pull up, order what smells right, and enjoy the ride.

If you want an amazing deal for taco Tuesday. This is THE SPOT! Birria tacos for $1, add a small consome it has such great flavor and the salsa goes great in the consome. Always have fresh juicy limes and not stingy on the meat inside your taco can't go wrong !
Customer service is really good. Came in on a Sunday morning right when they opened. The place was empty, not sure why the food was really good! Did not have to wait long for the food and it came out fresh. It seems they sell a lot of to go trays for parties? Not sure but would def. Go again. I got the torta and a quesadilla. I liked that the tortilla (hand made) was the yellow corn, smelled so good just like the ones you buy in Mexico.
The food was amazing and the pizza was totally awesome the meat was perfect with not to much juice and enjoyable for a snack the next day
Love the unique variety of birria entrees! (Birria pizza!? Whoa.) The birria nachos are delicious! The birria fries need a little work; the consume makes the nacho cheese very thin and runny. I wish the birria had a little more pizzazz. It's very juicy and it does have flavor, but I feel like the consume could use a more dynamic flavor profile; just a personal opinion. The service is wonderful. Very polite employees! The place is small, but still plenty of room to eat comfortably. Very clean restaurant! Humble suggestion: 1. Maybe have second, milder option for the brined onions; wowzers, they are soooo spicy! Same thing for the salsa; it would be nice to have a second milder option. Will be back as the food is good and the prices are affordable given the portion sizes.
AMAZING birria!! And great portions for very affordable pricing. I got the cali burrito and it was very large - enough for me to eat half and save it for later. The birria was super flavorful and juicy, they used the perfect amount of cheese and avocado in the burrito as well. Absolutely recommend eating with the spicy pickled onions they have on the side. The staff here are very kind and attentive as well, they noticed I needed a to go bag for my burrito and brought me a bag and extra piece of aluminum foil to wrap the other half in. Definitely would come again!!!
